Accessibility
SEALCO wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who rely on screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or reduced motion. The site is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
Options on every page
The Accessibility button at the top of each page opens a panel where you can turn on high contrast, larger text, an easier-to-read font, underlined links, bigger buttons, more spacing, and reduced motion, which also stops any video from playing on its own. Your choices are saved on your device and apply to every page of this site.
The site also follows your operating system's settings for reduced motion and increased contrast automatically, without opening the panel.
What we've done
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a skip link to the main content.
- Headings, landmarks, and labels are structured for screen readers. Images that carry information have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Text and background colors meet WCAG contrast ratios. Yellow is never used for text on a light background.
- Videos that play automatically can be paused, and never play when reduced motion is on.
- Buttons and links are at least 44 by 44 pixels when the bigger-targets option is on, and forms have visible labels, clear error messages, and no time limits.
- The site works at 400% zoom and on small screens without horizontal scrolling.
